Svyturys Ekstra lager wins GOLD in the 2014 World Beer Awards Europe
ŠVYTURYS EKSTRA, a pride of Klaipeda’s brewers and the most popular beer across Lithuania, was awarded the new gold medal last month. In the international competition of the World Beer Awards 2014, EKSTRA has claimed the gold in the lager category and has been named as the best Dortmunder beer in Europe.

The judges of the international annual competition of the World Beer Awards selected the best beer brands in each category. Around 700 beers from more than 30 different countries were presented to this year's competition, and all blind judging evaluated the drinks in four stages. In each category the beers were awarded the gold, silver and bronze medals.
THE MASTER BREWER, Džuljeta Armonienė:
"I believe that achievement of this top prize was enabled by a huge till and the highest compliance to the requirements in all stages of production. Once again we have confirmed to ourselves and to others, that EKSTRA is a recognized beer not only in Lithuania, but also around the world,"- says Mrs. Džuljeta Armonienė, master brewer at Svyturys brewery.
Since 2007 the World Beer Awards are organized by the British company "Paragraph Publishing”, which distributes the categories of awards according to the world's major beer styles.
ŠVYTURYS EKSTRA has already reached the world's highest brewers’ Olympus – in 2012, the beer was given the World Beer Cup Gold Medal at the world's most prestigious beer competition.
This beer deserves the best and has achieved many accolades since it was invented by Mrs. Džuljeta Armonienė, the master brewer at Svyturys brewery in 1992.
